School Improvement Program

(2002/07/17) The SIP School Sub-committee met this afternon to receive reports from the Architect and studied the Feasibility Report.
Members present: (School) Bro. Thomas Lavin, Mr. Yik Kwan, Mr. Peter Chi, Mr. Joseph Chung; (Architect) Mr. Tse Pak To, Ms Cynthia Chu; (Old Boys) Mr. Eric Lee, Mr. Andrew Yam.
Mr. Tse reported that the Legco had passed the financing of School Improvement Program of La Salle College. He gave a summary of the current situation and the works ahead.
Members then discussed in detail the layout of the new Annex. Some re-location of the rooms were made.
Scheduled date of next Works Sub-com was proposed at mid September 2002.

(2002/04/25) 10th Meeting of the Works Sub-committee was again held in the GP Room. Members studied the proposals made by the Architects, Engineers and the QSs. After looking at Plan D closely, floor by floor and after much discussion and sharing of opinions, members agreed on Plan D. Plan D was made up of two blocks, one over the current tennis court and the other along La Salle Road, i.e. at both ends of the Swimming Pool. The two blocks would be connected by a link bridge over the Spectator Stand.
Bro. Thomas thanked the members who spent hours preparing for this meeting, visiting the Architects, Engineers and the QCs. Without them the Program would not have run so smoothly.

(2002/04/15) 9th Meeting of the Works Sub-committee was held in a General Purpose Room as the Old Boys Room was used as the temporary office by the QAI team. Members received reports from the consultants and discuss on the design of the annex building. Plan A, link bridge along La Salle Road, was way above budget and Plan C was one block without any extension around the Swimming Pool.
Half way through the meeting, members discovered Plan D which retained most of the features of Plan A, about the same floor area as Plan C and within budget. The Architects, Engineers and QS's were asked to work on the new Plan and report back by the following week.
