The annual Christian Brother Schools Athletic Meet was held on a cloudy and drizzling 7th day of the year of the Goat.
The Guest of honour was Mr. Lee Chi Wing from the QAI section of EMB/ED. He was a teacher at La Salle College in the 70's. In his speech, he praised the Lasallian Schools for their Lasallian Spirit. He related three events which impressed him and he remembered them vividly.
- A student hit the first hurdle, fell and was badly bruised. He got up, hit the third hurdle and continued. He hit again the 7th hurdle but determined to complete the race. Mr. Lee still remembered his time, 22.74s.
- Another was sick and had a fever. But insisted to run the 800m. He came last but completed the race.
- A third boy had to take a public examination at the same time of his scheduled race. Unlike most other students, he completed his event and rushed to the examination center on a taxi.
Mr. Lee said these students did everything to contribute one point to the team. He had inspected many schools and seldom has he found such spirits as they are common with the Lasallian Schools.
The M.C. Mr. Kwan said this is a historic moment. Since the first CBSSA in 1976, CGHC is the second school to win the Overall Champion.
