(2003/05/27) The SIP Works Subcom met with the Architects and Engineers in the Old Boys Room.
In the first session, the Architect reported that approval form the Building Department to start demolision and precautionary works had been received. The School and teachers' proposals were finalised. They also started the preparation for tendering of the superstructure. The Resident Engineer then gave the Progress Report and clarified and noted points raised by the members.
In the second session, the Architects and Engineers left and the Works Subcom discussed matters concerning the supervision of the site preparation and the funding issue.

 

(2003/04/29) The Third Site Progress Meeting was held at the Swimming Pool, from 9:30 to 12:30.
The Site Progress Meeting will continue to meet regularly once a fortnight.

 
 

(2003/04/22) School resumed to see hoarding around the Swimming Pool.

 

(2003/04/15) The Second Site Progress Meeting was held at the site, outside the old swimming pool office at 9:30 a.m.
The Agenda of the meeting included the following: Confirmation of minutes of last meeting, Program and Progress, Contractor's Items, Safety Issues, School Issues, Architectural Items, Structural Items, Building Services Items, Q.S. Items & A.O.B. Date of next meeting was set at 2003/04/29.
The Principal went through the details of the School's proposals on the design of Rooms with the Architects and Engineers in the Old Boys' Room at 11 a.m.

 
 

(2003/04/09) The Ground Breaking ceremony was held at 9 o'clock in the morning. Work began with hoarding outside the swimming pool along La Salle Road.

 
 
 

(2003/04/03) Construction work began, along La Salle Road, at the gate to the Swimming Pool. The car park was closed.
Teachers in charge of teams gave feedback to the Engineers, E&M, in the afternoon.

 
 

(2003/03/26) The School, the Architect and the Construction Company meet to discuss the details of the Demolition works and the Foundation works. This was the Introductory and 1st Site Progress Meeting for Demolition and Foundation Contract.

 
 

(2003/02/27) Members of the Works subcom received the Project Progress report from the Architect, Mr. P.T.Tse. He talked on the Submission status, the Tender Demolision status and the Cost Estimates.
Members then discussed at length about the Demolition and Foundation Work. The contract was awarded after studying the tender returns. Members then went through details about Site Supervision.
The meeting ended after going through the Design Issues on deviation items, optional items and non-subvented items.

 
 

(2003/01/21) The 3-sided SIP meeting between the Education and Manpower Bureau, the Architects and the School started at 10 a.m. Matters related to School Requirements and the ED's comments on the revised layout were discussed in detailed. After two hours, all parties had a much better understanding of each other.

 
 

(2002/12/16) School Teams meeting with the Architects
Various teams took turns to discuss in detail the School's requirements in the SIP project. In most cases the Architects understood and accepted the School's proposals. In some cases they required further drawings and clarifications, and in others they would seek approval from the ED. The meeting started at 3:00 pm and ended at 6:15 pm.

(2002/12/09) Teachers reported to the Principal in the Progress Meeting of SIP. The Principal went throught each room in the Annex A, Annex B and the reprovisioning of existing rooms in the present building. Bro. Thomas thanked the teachers and reminded them of the meeting with the Architects on 2002/12/16.

 

(2002/11/27) The Principal called a meeting with the teachers in charge of various facilities in the Old Boys Room after school. He informed the teachers of the progress of SIP. He distributed to the teachers suggestions made by the Architects and asked the teachers to discuss them with their collegues. Samples of materials were also shown.
Bro. Thomas set the date for next meeting on 2002/12/09, two days before the scheduled Staff Meeting. The formal meeting with the Architects will be held on 2002/12/16.

 

(2002/11/07) The Architect, Mr. P. T. Tse reported to the sub-committee that ED agreed that the Feasibility Study Report had achieved design feasibility compliance. Finance Committee's approval of funding for construction works for the School had been obtained.
The Architects prepared to move to the next stage: (1) submit plans for ED's approval; (2) refine the designs proposed by the teachers; (3) invite tender for demolition and foundation works.
If everything goes smoothly, site works will start in April.

 
 
 
 

(2002/09/30) Bro. Thomas led various teams to discuss the design of rooms and open space with the architect Mr. P.T. Tse and his assistant, Miss Cynthia Chu from 1:30 to 4:30 pm.
The teams had previously met with other teachers in brain-storming sessions and came up with drawings and proposals. Mr. Tse found the exchange of ideas very useful. Bro. Thomas asked them to keep in contact.
Mr. Tse assured the School that the progress of SIP was right on schedule.

 
 
 
 

(2002/09/17) A visit to La Salle Primary School
Some teachers paid the new Primay School Building a visit on a rainy day. The Principal of LSP, Mrs. Elizabeth Pau, gave the teachers some advice on SIP. ...more photographs

 
 

(2002/09/12) SIP teachers meeting
In the meeting, Bro. Thomas gave a general overview of the current situation. The blown-up plans were placed on the cupboards to allow teachers have a clearer view. The leaders of departments and teams then talked about their proposals.
The Principal gave feedback to the teams and appointed Mr. Peter Chiu to look after the teams in the Pastoral area and Mr. Yik Kwan the teams in the Academic area.
Bro. Thomas thanked all those who contributed and set a date for the next meeting. It was suggested that in that meeting team leaders, prepare draft drawings, if possible, of the plans.

(2002/09/04) School Improvement Program
In the teachers meeting, the Principal distributed copies of the plans of the new Annex building to every teacher. He invited teachers to study the plans and to suggest designs. He appointed respective team leaders and panel heads to lead groups in the studies.

Next meeting to discuss designs for the SIP.
