(2003/09/17) Swimming Gala Interclass results
- The Kowloon Park Swimming Pool
- The whole school attended this School Function in a public swimming pool, the first time for over 20 years.
- New system, new Records
- Competitors taking part were divided into two Divisions, D1 for the experienced swimmers and D2 for non prize winners and beginners. To encourage participation, more points were awarded to D2 events. All events were straight finals.
- Records dropped like flies. Records were broken all across the board, from A grade to C grade, from individual events to relay teams.
- The Overall Champion class was 1A and the runner-up 1B. This in itself was another record.
- Principal's speech
- Bro. Thomas thanked the organiser of the event for a job well done.
- He asked the students to cherish the opportunity provided and challenge oneself to do better.
- He thanked the OBA and PTA for their contribution to the School and in particular to the parents who came to suport their sons this morning.
- Guests of Honour
- The Guests of Honour, Mr. Lawrence Ng, Vice-President of LSCOBA and Dr. Bernard Kong, member of LSCOBA committee, addressed the gathering.
- Dr. Robert Yuen, President of the LSCOBA, also talked to the teachers, parents and students.
- The winners
- St. Joseph's College won the Schools Invitation Relay
- OBA Team came first, combined OBA and teachers team second and PTA team third.
- The individual champions went to Yee Hoi Ping (7C), Wong Guy Van (4G) and Au Yeung Chun Yu (2B)
- Overall team Champion and Runner-up classes were 1A and 1B. Their high scores were mainly due to the great number of participations.
- Before the close, all sang the School Song. One parent, moved by the solidarity of the whole school, remarked, "We are all winners."
